Insurance Endorsements
Customize your trucking insurance policy with endorsements for regulatory compliance, coverage extensions, and specialized risks.
Regulatory & Filing Endorsements
Required endorsements for FMCSA, DOT, and state regulatory compliance.
MCS-90 Endorsement
Federally required public liability endorsement. Guarantees financial responsibility for bodily injury and property damage to the public. Required on every for-hire interstate carrier's auto liability policy.
MCS-82 (BMC-82)
Surety bond alternative to the MCS-90 for motor carriers. Filed electronically with FMCSA as proof of financial responsibility.
Form F (ICC/STB Filing)
Required for household goods movers operating under Surface Transportation Board authority. Provides proof of cargo liability coverage.
BMC-91 / BMC-91X
Financial responsibility filing for freight brokers and freight forwarders. BMC-91 is a surety bond; BMC-91X is a trust fund agreement. Required to maintain broker authority.
Form H (Mexico Endorsement)
Extends coverage for cross-border operations into Mexico. Required for carriers with FMCSA authority to operate in Mexican territory.
Coverage Extension Endorsements
Endorsements that broaden your base policy to cover additional situations and vehicles.
Hired & Non-Owned Auto
Covers liability for vehicles you hire, rent, or borrow, as well as employee-owned vehicles used for business purposes. Essential for any carrier that occasionally uses non-owned vehicles.
Trailer Interchange Agreement
Provides physical damage coverage for trailers pulled under a trailer interchange agreement. Covers trailers you don't own but are responsible for.
Unladen Liability / Deadhead Coverage
Covers liability while operating without cargo (deadheading). Some policies exclude unladen operations — this endorsement fills that gap.
Drive Other Car (DOC)
Provides liability coverage for named individuals when driving non-owned personal vehicles. Useful for owner-operators who don't have a separate personal auto policy.
Broad Form Named Insured
Extends "named insured" status to all entities owned or controlled by the policyholder. Simplifies coverage for carriers operating under multiple entities.
Additional Insured Endorsements
Adds third parties (shippers, brokers, lessors) as additional insureds on your policy. Frequently required by contracts and load agreements.
Cargo-Specific Endorsements
Specialized endorsements for specific cargo types and transit risks.
Refrigeration Breakdown (Reefer)
Covers cargo spoilage due to mechanical breakdown of refrigeration units. Critical for carriers hauling temperature-sensitive freight (produce, pharmaceuticals, frozen goods).
Earned Freight
Reimburses freight charges you've earned but can't collect due to a covered cargo loss. Protects your revenue when a load is damaged or destroyed in transit.
Loading & Unloading
Extends cargo coverage to include damage occurring during the loading and unloading process. Many base cargo policies only cover freight while in transit.
Debris Removal
Covers the cost of cleaning up and removing cargo debris after an accident. Can be significant for bulk or liquid cargo spills.
Pollutant Cleanup (Hazmat)
Covers environmental cleanup costs when hazardous materials cargo is spilled or released. Essential for tanker and hazmat haulers.
Specialized Risk Endorsements
Endorsements for high-risk and specialty operations.
Hazardous Materials (Hazmat)
Extends coverage specifically for the transportation of hazardous materials. Includes higher liability limits ($1M–$5M) as required by FMCSA based on commodity classification.
TWIC Endorsement
Coverage extension for operations requiring Transportation Worker Identification Credential access — port facilities, maritime terminals, and restricted areas.
Intermodal Container Coverage
Covers physical damage and liability for intermodal shipping containers during drayage and over-the-road transport. Important for port and rail intermodal carriers.
Owner-Operator Lease Endorsement
Clarifies coverage when owner-operators are leased to a motor carrier. Addresses the independent contractor vs. employee status issue and ensures proper coverage allocation.
